July Festivities: A Guide to Fun July Holidays

It’s time to celebrate July already! July has one of the most fun holidays of the year, Independence Day, along with some really fun holidays to celebrate as well. We love celebrating all the holidays, big and small, so I put together this July Festivities: A Guide to Fun July Holidays handbook!

July already! Summer is flying by, as is this year!! I love celebrating all the fun little moments with my family that I can. The “National Day Of” celebrations are so much fun to celebrate as a family! I love to look at the list and see what will be the most fun to honor as we go into each month. It’s such a fun way to put a little pizazz and joy in our days, and I say the more joy and happiness, the better! Let’s dive in to what we have to look forward to in the month of July!

The July 4th holiday celebrates our forefathers passing the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. It’s a federal holiday, and it’s full of family gatherings, parties, fireworks and barbeques!

Special Events in July 2024

We have a super fun special event in late July! The Summer Olympics start in Paris! The opening ceremonies are on Friday July, 26, 2024 and the Olympic Events will run to the closing ceremonies on Sunday August 11, 2024. I adore the Olympics! Especially the Summer games!

National Creative Ice Cream Flavor Day (July 1):

What a fun holiday! Either make your own or go to the store and prowl till you find something that fits the bill! Or even go to one of those frozen yogurt shops where you can pick the toppings. I think I’d win this competition for my love of strawberry ice cream with… gummy bears! I love that combo!! Want to make your own ice cream? I LOVE our ice cream maker!

Second Half of The Year Day (July 2):

How is that possible? Seriously! 2021 is halfway over! I say celebrate with half a cake and a mini New Year’s countdown to celebrate the 2nd half of 2024 beginning!

National Play Outside Day (July 3):

Get outside and play today! Run the sprinklers and bring out a box fan and get outside today. Maybe even double down and have an outside lunch or dinner for more fun outside time today. It’ll be a hot one where we live! Lots of water fun for sure will be required!

4th of July (July 4):

The 4th of July is so fun! America’s Independence Day! Have your hot dogs and hamburgers, with all the traditional cookout food! Enjoy some fireworks on TV or in person! It’s such a fun day to celebrate with family and friends!

National Graham Cracker Day (July 5):

Graham cracker day! It would be an awesome day to make smores! You could also do a graham cracker pie crust. A favorite snack of mine is graham crackers and peanut butter! Work in some graham crackers today!

National Fried Chicken Day (July 6):

What a glorious holiday! If you make some good fried chicken, make it today. If you don’t, feel free to take a little help from the store or fast food restaurants and pick up dinner tonight. Want to know a little secret? Fried chicken isn’t all that hard to make! Truly! You just have to know what you are doing. If it’s not in your cooking repertoire, today would be an awesome day to give it a try! Here’s a good starter recipe to give it a whirl!

National Chocolate Day (July 7):

A whole day, just for chocolate! Awesome! Pack in some chocolate today and celebrate! I say chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast! And then a big old chocolate dessert tonight! Chocolate all day!!!! Try these super easy and decadent chocolate truffles that only take 3 ingredients to make!

National Blueberry Day (July 8):

Blueberries are delicious and you can do so many things with them! Make a syrup for pancakes, have them with yogurt, use them for baking, make a smoothie! The sky is the limit! Get your fill today! Maybe try these most excellent blueberry muffins!

I love a sugar cookie! I’m delighted there is an entire day devoted to them! Make your favorite recipe today! Or grab some in the deli/bakery of your grocery store! Decorate them if you want to and enjoy! (My favorite sugar cookie recipe? … Pillsbury slice and bake sugar cookies. Nothing beats them!! Warm out of the oven they are just amazing! But also, I love sugar cookie dough! Try our edible sugar cookie dough recipe here!

National Pina Colada Day (July 10):

Get out the blender and make some Pina Coladas! Let the kiddos have the non-alcoholic version and toss some rum in for the parents if you want! I think they are delicious either way!

National Blueberry Muffin Day (July 11)

Today will need a blueberry muffin for sure! Have it for breakfast! Have it for snack! Or for dessert! Get one at the bakery or make from scratch or a mix! However you do it, enjoy a blueberry muffin! Here is the recipe for my favorite delicious and decadent blueberry muffins we make from scratch at home.

National Pecan Pie Day (July 12):

Pecan pie is underrated! It’s a hidden gem in the holiday desserts! I love a good pecan pie! And they are pretty simple to make. Try your own or get a frozen one to bake. I love a warm slice with vanilla ice cream on top!

National French Fries Day (July 13):

This will thrill my oldest son. French fries are his favorite treat! Today calls for some French fries! Drive through a fast food place or try your hand at making your own! Either way will be delicious!

National Macaroni and Cheese Day (July 14):

What a glorious holiday! Have your favorite mac and cheese today! If you’ve never tried to make any from scratch, it’s a cinch and so delicious! Look on Pinterest for ideas and make some today!

National Cow Appreciation Day (July 15):

Who doesn’t love a cow?! For cow appreciation day, take a little time to learn about cows and maybe even go on a cow scavenger hunt in the car. My kids love driving to see cows! Or do a kid-friendly cow craft like this one!

World Snake Day (July 16):

This is a good day to learn about snakes! Watch some National Geographic or YouTube videos. It might also be a good time to learn which snakes are native to your area/geography which are friends, and which may not be friends! It’s important to be able to identify the difference for sure.

National Peach Ice Cream Day (July 17):

In July the peaches are in perfect season and they are so, so, so good. And peach ice cream is a delight any time of year! But today’s the day it’s celebrated, so treat yourself to some!

National Sour Candy Day (July 18):

Oh, how I love some sour candy! And to find out it has its own holiday!! Watch out Sour Patch Kids and Sour Haribo Gummy Bears! I’m coming for you today!! Want to make your sour candy extra special and good? Put it in the freezer for a few hours. It’s still chewy, but it’s like a cold ice-creamy dessert treat!

National Raspberry Cake Day (July 19):

I’ve never had a Raspberry Cake. But now I’m going to! It’s National Raspberry Cake Day! Head on over to Pinterest or Google and find a recipe for a cake or muffin that looks delicious and go for it today!

National Lollipop Day (July 20):

Now this is a fun holiday! Go to the candy shop and buy a lollipop to have as a treat today. Or, if you are really feeling it, look for videos and recipes on how to make your own lollipops. It’s actually really easy and super fun. The Pioneer Woman did an episode with homemade lollipops and I was floored by how easy they were!

National Hot Dog Day (July 21):

It’s hot dogs for dinner tonight! Toss them on the grill and enjoy an amazingly easy dinner! Or if you prefer, make chili dogs and load them up! For an easy chili dog dinner, try our Chili Cheese Hot Dog Casserole!

National Hammock Day (July 22):

It’s National Hammock Day! If you have a hammock handy, spend some time relaxing in it today! Don’t have a hammock? Try this portable one! It’s super reasonably priced and we love it!

National Sprinkle Day (July 23):

This calls for an ice cream dessert with sprinkles on top! Or however, you like to have sprinkles! I love sprinkle cookies – here is my childhood favorite cookie recipe!

National Cousins Day (July 24):

Reach out and say hey to your cousins today! If you can gather in person, have a cousin meet up! Especially if you have little kids that love to play with their cousins!

National Hot Fudge Sundae Day (July 25):

You can’t let National Hot Fudge Sundae Day go without a… hot fudge sundae! Is there anything better? I don’t think so! Grab all the ingredients and let everyone make their own sundaes! With hot fudge, of course!!

National Aunt and Uncle Day (July 26):

Here is a fun day! Find a little time to celebrate Aunts and Uncles today! Send a card or make a call or have dinner. Just say hey and let them know they are loved and appreciated!

National Love is Kind Day (July 27):

This should be every day. But talk about kindness today and about showing love. It’s always a good time to have a check-in with the kids about kindness!

National Hamburger Day (July 28):

So much fun can be had for Hamburger Day! Hamburgers for dinner is a must! Top them however you like! Grill them or pan fry them (don’t knock it till you’ve tried it!) and have a delicious dinner of burgers and fixings!

National Lasagna Day (July 29):

YUMMO! Lasagna is one of my favorite foods! Make your own or grab a prepared or frozen lasagna today and celebrate Lasagna Day! My favorite lasagna recipe is my own lasagna recipe that I’ve used for years! Don’t have time for a full lasagna cooking session? Try our Quick and Easy Lasagna Soup recipe! It has all the flavor, but only takes 30 minutes from beginning to end!

National Cheesecake Day (July 30):

Have some cheesecake today to celebrate National Cheesecake Day! If you don’t want to make some, grab some in the bakery. Or if you are lucky enough, go to your local Cheesecake Factory and buy a slice! Or, max out your summer enjoyment and make this No Bake Lemonade Cheesecake!

National Avocado Day (July 31):

Avocado Day! Avocados are so versatile! Work some into the menu today. If you think you don’t like avocados, maybe find a few recipes to try that intrigue you! Like Chocolate Avocado Mousse!

Wrap-Up: July Festivities: A Guide to Fun July Holidays

July is one of my favorite months. It’s the middle of Summer, there’s so much fun to be had, and it’s just packed with super fun and silly holidays to celebrate. There is enough serious happening in the world. Bring some joy to the table and have some fun! I hope you pick a few of the fun days and celebrate them as a family and have a little fun this month!
