It’s almost Valentine’s Day!! I love all the pink and red around everywhere this time of year! It just makes you feel warm and cozy during a month that’s usually pretty dang cold and dreary! We all know I love a good, easy craft. And add to that it’s in a jar? And I can use it as a seasonal decoration over and over again? Well, sign me up! When I saw these jars, I knew I had to duplicate them and make the design my own! These easy Valentine’s Day Mason Jars are the perfect quick and fun craft to do, just in time for Valentine’s Day this year!
Video Instructions:
If you are like me, you like to see a craft in action before you try it. Look no more! Here’s the video of me making these jars! You can see just how easy it is for yourself!
Time Involved:
This is a super quick craft. It’ll need to dry for several hours before assembly, but actual working craft time is maybe 30 minutes. If even that long! See, I promised a super fast craft!
Definitely find a spot these can safely dry for a few hours away from little hands.

I had these jars already, so I just bought the hearts, paint, glitter, twine and Modge Podge. You can get all of the stuff you need at your local craft store with coupons and sales. But if you don’t want to get out, here’s links on how to order all the materials you need:
- 3 jars (any size you want, I used quart-sized mason jars)
- 3-6 bottles of acrylic paint (MUCH CHEAPER AT CRAFT STORE! ABOUT $1/bottle!)
- 3 wooden hearts (around 3 inches)
- 1-2 shades of glitter
- 1 container Modge Podge
- 1 brush for Modge Podge application
- 24 inches of twine (I used pink)
- Hot glue gun (if necessary)
Again, all these supplies are MUCH cheaper from your local craft stores, such as Joann’s Fabrics, Michaels, or Hobby Lobby. Use your coupons too!!
Instructions:
Step 1:
Lay down some paper towels for a work area and brush the wooden hearts with a thick layer of Modge Podge and then pour glitter ALL over the heart.

Let the hearts sit for at least 30 minutes before you shake off the excess glitter.

Step 2:
If there are any spots that need more glitter, apply a small amount of glue and add more glitter until desired glitter coverage is achieved.
Step 3:
While the hearts are drying, wash and dry your jars. Make sure they are totally dry.

Step 4:
Pour at least half the bottle of acrylic paint into the bottom of the jar. It will likely take the entire bottle, if not more, so go ahead and pour it in. Don’t be shy!

Step 5:
Gently, and slowly, rotate the jar around to spread the paint to cover the entire inside of the jar. This will take a little time but it’s fun to do and fun to watch!

Step 6:
Add more paint as needed until the entire inside up to the lip of the jar is covered. I used quart-sized mason jars and they needed 2 small bottles of acrylic paint.
Step 7:
Continue to roll the jar around until the entire inside of the jar is covered, all the way to the lip of the jar.

Step 8:
Let the jars dry completely as well as the hearts dry completely.

Step 9:
( I neglected to get a picture of this step! But it’s in the video if you want or need to see it! )
When all parts are dry, attach the twine to the back of the wooden heart. (My hearts had holes pre-drilled so I didn’t have to hot-glue to stick my twine to the back of the heart. But if you do, just put a small amount of glue and attach the twine).
Step 10:
Tie the twine around the lip of the jar so that the heart hangs from the lip of the jar and looks pretty!
