19 Must-Read Autumn-Themed Romance Books

The Fall season is upon us, and there’s no way to get into the season better than reading some fabulous books set around the Autumn season! Pick a few of the 19 Must-Read Autumn-Themed Romance Books on this list to get yourself in the mood for Fall!

I love the Fall season most of all. And I ADORE reading. So if I can have the chance to throw those two loves together and find a nice, cozy, Autumn-themed love story, I’m going to read that immediately! Any time I come across a book with an Autumn theme, I’ll put it on my list to read and make a note that it might be a fun read for the Fall season. Sure, that’s a little nerdy. But I’m not alone! Which is why I made this list to share with you, too! Some of these are new authors to me and are on my To-Be-Read list, and some of these are favorites of mine to recommend to you! Let’s jump into some Fall romance books!

Here we go with the Fall reading list! All the books involve the Fall season. Some of them are closed-door romances, some are open-door romances and some are downright steamy! I’ll share the spice level (If I know it!) with my notes for each book.

1. Just Don’t Fall – By Emma St. Clair

Emma St. Clair is new to me, but this book comes highly recommended! Not only does this book have the Fall season, it has hockey/sports! It’s a small-town romance with a fake-dating storyline, so this has me immediately! This is a closed-door romance.

2. Fall into You – By Caroline Frank

I haven’t read any books by Caroline Frank yet, but she comes HIGHLY recommended on BookTok and Bookstagram! This book is part of a series called “Seasons of Love” and though I’ve not read it yet, its reviews call it “STEAMY” on the spice scale. This looks like a forbidden romance while healing from personal grief storyline.

3. Happily Haunted Afters – By Brittany Kelley

This is the perfect Fall read! It’s got a little Spook and a little Spice in a small town! And it’s really funny. Brittany Kelley is also new to me and I can’t wait to read this story. This book is self-described as “Spicy” by the publisher. This is book 1 of the “Happily Haunted Afters” series. Also, this book is free on KindleUnlimited right now!

4. A Ghost of A Chance – By Brittany Kelley

And here’s book 2 of the “Happily Haunted After” series! The main character is the town psychic. There’s an elderly aunt with a “Ghost Problem” to take care of and a grumpy neighbor. How can this not be an instant hit? I cannot wait to read it! This book is described as “Spicy”, too! Also, this book is free on KindleUnlimited right now!

5. Funny Feelings – Tarah Dewitt

I have a copy of this book just waiting to be read this Fall! This is a fake-dating trope and the female lead character is a stand-up comedian. How is this not going to be adorable?! This book has rave reviews and is described as “Cozy, tender and sexy” and I cannot wait to read it! This book is free on KindleUnlimited right now!

6. Given Our History – by Kristyn J. Miller

Kristyn J. Miller is new to me as well, but this looks to be a super sweet second-chance romance. The two main characters are college professors, so this book has academia, Fall feels, and charming romance. Don’t have to pull my arm, this is immediately on my “To Be Read” list!

7. The Pumpkin Spice Cafe – By Laurie Gilmore

This is the number one book that comes back on Booktok and Bookstagram when I search for Fall-themed book recommendations! I ordered it immediately and I’ll be reading soon! This book is part of the Dream Harbor series and it looks to be absolutely adorable. This story is a small-town, grumpy vs. sunshine, inheriting a business trope, and I’m HERE for it! These stories are rated as spicy!

8. The Cinnamon Bun Bookstore – By Laurie Gilmore

This is the second book in the “Dream Harbor” series by Laurie Gilmore, and it’s is also Fall-themed! This is opposites attract in a small town. I LOVE a small-town romance series! This one is spicy, too! I can’t wait to dive in!

9. The Cousins O’Dwyer Trilogy – By Nora Roberts

Nora Roberts is my all-time favorite author. And I ADORE her trilogies! And this one is perfect for Fall, and happens to be my favorite thing she’s ever written! This series is set in Ireland, and it’s about 3 cousins that all have magical powers. But it’s also 3 amazingly sweet love stories too. And trust me, the mythical and fantasy realm is NOT my cup of tea. But this trilogy is perfection and it truly has it all. Give it a try and see what you think! I’m linking the entire trilogy below, and then I’ll list out each book, too. This is an older set of books, so you might be able to borrow from the library for free! But if not, the boxed set is the best deal for sure. It has the perfect blend of romance and spice.

10. The Dead Romantics – By Ashley Poston

I’m literally reading this right now and I do not think it will disappoint! It’s great so far! And has a perfect Fall and Halloween vibe since it has actual ghosts in it! I like Ashley Poston’s books a lot and I can’t wait to finish this one!

11. The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling

I love a witty book name, so this one had me at the jump. This book comes HIGHLY recommended in the Bookstagram world, so I’m passing it on to you guys! I haven’t read it yet, but I will sometime this Fall season! It is supposed to be an absolute delight. It sounds sweet and hilarious and I can’t wait to dive in. Erin Sterling is a new author to me, and it looks like this book is the first in a series called “The Graves Glen Series”, so there will be more where this book came from if you love it! No word on the spice level but also no warnings, so I’m betting it’s a mild romance.

12. Pumpkin Spice and Not So Nice by Becky Monson

Becky Monson is new to me, but this book comes highly recommended! (How could it not be great with that title!) This appears to be a closed-door romance and has all the cozy Fall vibes you want this time of year!

13. Pumpkin Everything – By Beth Labonte

How can this book not be an Autumn delight with that title?! Looks like a big-city girl has to return to her small hometown to help her Grandfather that’s recovering from an injury. This book was turned into a Hallmark Channel Fall movie last year that was also called “Pumpkin Everyting” and it was super cute. This book is also free on KindleUnlimited right now!

14. Autumn at Apple Hill – By Angie Ellington

I have this book in my house, ready to read! And it’s going to be made into a movie on Hallmark Channel this Fall, premiering on Saturday, October 5, 2024! Angie Ellington is a new author to me, and I can’t wait. This book looks like an absolute delight. There’s apple picking, opposites attracting and a little magic, according to the listing. This looks absolutely adorable.

15. Coming Home to Starr’s Fall – By Kate Hewitt

The main character of this book opens a dog bakery. That’s enough for me – I must read it. This is a fresh start, small-town romance and I cannot wait to read it. I love Kate Hewitt, so I cannot wait to dive in. This is the beginning of a series as well, so I’m here for that. And also, the review says this is perfect for fans of the “Gilmore Girls” TV show. So, basically this book series is going to be an absolute dream! I can’t wait! It comes out on September 18, 2024.

16. Inheritance – By Nora Roberts

This is the first book of Nora Roberts new series called “The Lost Bride Trilogy.” And it’s fantastic. It’s got spooky, it’s got funny, it’s got a love story. I LOVED it and I can’t wait for the next book to come out in November. It’s got the perfect Fall spooky vibes, but the ghosts are pretty dang funny, too. Nora Roberts is fantastic, as always.

This is book 2 in Nora Roberts “Lost Bride” trilogy. I cannot wait, the first book was fantastic and this one will follow suit, I’m sure. It comes out on November 25, so mark your calendars and read the first book in the meantime!

18. Counting Miracles – By Nicholas Sparks

It’s Nicholas Sparks. It’s going to be fantastic, he always is. This looks to be another heart-tugging story that makes you have all the feels. It releases on September 24, 2024, and I can’t wait!

19. In Her Pumpkin Patch – By Alina Jacobs

This book sounds hilarious. It’s a grumpy vs. sunshine romance and our heroine LOVES Fall and the hero does NOT. I cannot wait to read this, it sounds wonderful. I’ve not read anything else by Alina Jacobs, so I’m excited to give her a try!

Wrap-Up – 19 Must-Read Autumn-Themed Romance Books

So there you have it, 19 book suggestions to keep you happily reading through the Fall season! Whenever I come across a good book that looks like it’s all about the Autumn season, I put it away until the beginning of Fall so I can enjoy it while the seasons are changing and put myself in a Fall festive mood! I’ve read some of these books and some are on my “To Be Read” list. I love adding new books and authors to my growing list of favorites!
